Take me for instance. I am a teacher. There are no black tencel pants that are going to make me..... be better at teaching reading.
Or...
Maybe, just maybe..... a nice blue 2 piece suit and some low heeled pumps will create an aura of professionalism...around me..and I will meet the expectations set by my clothes..............
whatcha think?

dunno... its a toss up....
for some, wearing the costume makes you believe
you are what you wear
for others, its more restricting
personally, i'd prefer teachers of younger aged
children to dress the part -- clothes to play in,
be comfortable in, to stretch and jump and run in...
not gay plaid jumpers and little wooden stencil earrings
i'd like to think that a teacher is INVOLVED with
children... as opposed to dressing like a country
xmas card

Eeehm, maybe i shouldn't bring up my new hobby her - live-action-role-playing, which means you dress up like a character, which does help in that case

Funny you bring that up. We just went over a new dress code change here. It was a big issue since we dont see the public but are professionals do we have to dress up. You know ties, slacks etc. Yes we do manual labor sometimes and have to crawl around on the floor to get to things but they dont care about that. They are worried what the public will say if they see us. Well the public wouldnt have a clue that we worked here because we do nothing for them directly that has interaction with them. It is the other employees who are bitchin.

not at all.
plenty of people "play the part"...
but are totally incompetent.
i told them at work at an interview for a promotion...
if they want someone to look "pretty" and make stuff up at meetings, then they don't want me.
if they wanted someone that would tell the truth and research the details and facts, then they wanted me.
they didn't want me.
( i'm not sure i wanted it anyways)
HA!

clothes only feed into image...they dont really affect performance that much...other than the previous points Shatzy and the others made...for the most part certain clothes simply make other people believe you do a better job...and that goes a long way too...
